A few days ago we woke up with the excellent news that our neighboring restaurant «Amos Arbor» had been awarded three Michelin stars. Thus becoming the first restaurant in Cantabria to achieve such a precious award.
The restaurant "Amos Arbor" this just 4 minutes by car (2.3 km) or you can even take a nice walk of just over 20 minutes. So the Posada Río Cubas becomes a hotel near the Arbor of Amos, and an ideal place to sleep after honoring yourself at the home of chef Jesús Sanchez and his wife Marián Martínez.
Jesús Sánchez is, without a doubt, an excellent representative of the new Cantabrian cuisine. Its restaurant opened practically at the same time as our inn, in 1993, and is located in a beautiful 18th century manor house in Villaverde de Pontones, a town with about 400 inhabitants and very close to us. Always surrounded by an excellent natural environment.Jesus, although he is Navarrese by birth, is practically another Cantabrian and also makes us proud for being one of the great Spanish chefs of the moment and pioneer of the revolution registered in the cuisine of Cantabria in recent years.
El Cenador de Amós, following the restaurant trend of its category, has eliminated its menu and there is the option of three menus:
The most complete, "Experience" available until 2:30 p.m. for food service and until 9:30 p.m. for dinner service, costs 167 euros (VAT included and wine cellar apart), and consists of 5 Snacks, 5 Appetizers, 5 Starters, Fish, Meat, Pre-dessert, Dessert, Petit fours.
The average menu, "Essence" is made up of 4 Snacks, 5 Appetizers, 3 Starters, Fish, Meat, Dessert, Petit fours and costs 137 euros (VAT included and wine cellar separately). Like the "Experience" Menu, it is available until 2:30 p.m. for lunch service and until 9:30 p.m. for dinner service.
Finally, the cheapest menu is the so-called "Memory" which costs 114 euros (VAT included and wine cellar apart) and is made up of 4 Snacks, 5 Appetizers, Starter, Main Course, Dessert, Petit fours. It is important to note that the Memoria menu is not served for dinner service.
